Vepris nobilis is a plant of the moist tropics, where it can be found at elevations from 900 - 2,600 metres. It grows in areas where the mean annual rainfall is within the range 1,200 - 2,500mm, and the mean annual temperature ranges from 18 - 26°c[1]. A slow to moderate-growing species[1]. Trees respond well to pollarding and coppicing[2].

Propagation

Seed - it has a very short viability of only a few months[2]. Pre-treatment of the seed is not necessary before sowing, but the germination rate, even of fresh seed, is generally low[2]. Wildlings are sometimes used for propagation[2]. Cite as: Tropical Plants Database, Ken Fern. tropical.theferns.info. 2026-02-20. <tropical.theferns.info/viewtropical.php?id=Vepris+nobilis>
