Growth—
The wood and the leaves have an aromatic odour, similar to that of cloves (Syzygium aromaticum)[1, 2]. The smell of clove is largely due to the presence of the essential oil 'eugenol'. It is considered that the stronger the smell then the more eugenol is present; and the more eugenol there is then the more the plant will share the medicinal activities of eugenol[3].
