Cultivation Details
Succeeds in full sun or light shade[1]. Grows best in deep, fertile, moist soils[1]. Newly planted young trees are quite slow to grow away[1].
Propagation
Seed - it can be stored for less than six months. It does not require pre-treatment, and is best sown as soon as it is ripe[1]. Sow the seed in a lightly shaded position in a nursery seedbed or in individual containers. Germination rates are usually rather low, with the seed sprouting in 20 - 40 days[1]. Pot up seedlings into individual containers when they are 4 - 6cm tall, and they should be ready to plant out 9 - 10 months later[1].
