Stylophorum lasiocarpum is a fairly hardy plant, tolerating winter temperatures falling to around -15°c[1]. Requires a leafy soil in a cool sheltered position[1]. The plant is cultivated in China for the medicinal qualities of the thick root, which contains a red juice[1]. This species, unlike most members of the family Papaveraceae, transplants without difficulty[2].
