Growth—
Species in this genus will generally tolerate winter temperatures occasionally falling as low as -10°c[1]. Requires a sunny position, thriving in a range of dry to moist soils so long as they are well-drained. Dislikes wet soils and shade[1].
Propagation
Seed - sow mid spring in situ and only just cover[2]. Germinates in about 2 weeks. The plant strongly resents root disturbance so do not transplant it. In areas with mild winters an autumn sowing will provide an earlier supply of leaves[1].
