Growth—
Saruma henryi is native to central China, occupying hardyness zones from 7 - 9. It should succeed outdoors in milder regions of the temperate zone. An easily grown plant, succeeding in semi to full shade in a humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil[1]. Established plants tolerate some dry soils[1]. Plants will slowly spread in the garden by means of their creeping rootstocks[1]. Plants may self-seed in the garden in optimum growing conditions[1]. The leaves are fragrant when bruised[1].
