Crataegus calpodendron is a thorny, deciduous, usually multi-stemmed, shrub or small tree; in the north of its range it is more likely to be a shrub growing in the open, up to 5 metres tall with a vase-like branch structure, in the south of its range it is more commonly a tree, growing in some shade, up to 7 metres tall[ 270 Title Flora of N.
