Salix commutata is a deciduous shrub that can grow from 20 - 300cm tall[ 270 Title Flora of N. The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and medicine. It is grown as a pioneer plant on difficult sites to establish tree cover and stabilize the soil.
