Botanical Description

Gigantochloa manggong is an evergreen, perennial, densely clump-fprming bamboo growing from 10 - 15 metres tall. The thick-walled, erect, woody culms are 50 - 70mm in diameter with internodes 31 - 35cm long. An uncommon species, it is harvested from the wild for mainly local use as a source of materials and food.
