Botanical Description

Geranium wallichianum is a herbaceous perennial plant that can grow around 40 - 60cm tall[ 338 Title IUCN Red List of Threatened Species Publication Author Website http://www.iucnredlist.org/ Publisher Year 0 ISBN Description A list of plants under threat and facing possible extinction, usually with brief details of the threats and information on habitat. ] The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine and source of materials. It is grown as an ornamental in gardens, where it can be used as a ground cover. Geranium wallichianum has a large range and, whilst is considered to be quite rare across this range, where the plant does grow, it is reported to be abundant. Given its widespread distribution, and occurrence in a variety of habitats at higher elevations, it is suspected that the global population is large. It should be noted, however, that the plant is collected for its medicinal properties and it has been reported to have suffered substantial population declines in Pakistan as a result of this exploitation. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2020)[ 338 Title IUCN Red List of Threatened Species Publication Author Website http://www.iucnredlist.org/ Publisher Year 0 ISBN Description A list of plants under threat and facing possible extinction, usually with brief details of the threats and information on habitat. ].
