Botanical Description
Lecomtedoxa klaineana is an evergreen tree with a hemispherical crown; it can grow up to 40 metres tall. The straight and cylindrical bole can be free of branches for up to 25metres and up to 120cm in diameter; it often has braod and steep buttresses[ 299 Title Protabase - Plant Resources of Tropical Africa. The tree is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine and source of wood. This species has not been treated in the IUCN list of Threatened Species. However, it has a limited area of distribution and, although it may be locally dominant, it is in general uncommon. This makes it liable to genetic erosion and attention is needed to sufficiently protect this species[ 299 Title Protabase - Plant Resources of Tropical Africa.
