Botanical Description

Schizostachyum griffithii is an evergreen, perennial, clump-forming bamboo with short rhizomes. The culms, which can be erect or arching, are 7.5 - 15 metres long, 50 - 200mm in diameter with thin-walled internodes 45 - 65cm long. The culms are harvested from the wild for local use in making baskets and pipes.
