Botanical Description

Planchonella obovata is an evergreen tree with a conical crown; it can vary considerably in height, from around 10 metres to 30 metres or more. The bole can be crooked and gnarled, or straight and free of branches for over 10 metres; it often has low, sharp spreading buttresses. The crown appears coppery from below because the twigs, buds, leaf stalks and undersides of the young leaves are rusty brown and scurfy[ 653 Title Plants of Southeast Asia Publication Author Website http://www.asianplant.net/ Publisher Year 0 ISBN Description Excellent site with brief information on the plant, its range, habitat and uses, plus phots of specimens, close-ops of flowers and leaves etc, ].
