Bactris acanthocarpa is a spiny, evergreen palm growing around 3 metres tall. The plant produces one or more short, usually subterranean stems, but occasionally becoming up to 1 metre tall and 3 - 6cm in diameter; the stems are topped by 5 - 15 leaves that can be up to 4 metres long[ 314 Title Palm and Cycad Societies of Australia.
