Botanical Description

Zanthoxylum ekmanii is a deciduous tree growing from 13 - 30 metres tall. The bole can be up to 100cm in diameter. On younger trees the bole is armed with large prickles that can be about 5cm wide and 1cm thick, but these generally fall off older trees[ 315 Title Flora of Barro Colorado Island Publication Author Croat.
