Botanical Description

Carapa varies from being a sprawling tree in swamp forest, to a tall tree in lowland rain forest. HabitatA common, but localised species, growing on lake-shores, riparian and mid-altitude forest, esp where drainage is impeded, typically at 1,100 - 1,800 m altitude.
