Botanical Description

Gnetum klossii is a vigorous, evergreen climbing plant with woody, twining stems. The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food. The preferred habitat of this species is lowland to lower montane forest - a habitat that is highly threatened on Borneo and classified as vulnerable to critical/endangered. Most probably the plant's area of occurrence is declining. However, recent collections have been made in today protected areas in the NW, NE and SE of Borneo.
