Botanical Description

Vatica obscura is a large, evergreen tree. The tree has been harvested for its wood and resin, which are used locally. Regeneration is reported to be good, however this species was not recorded during the extensive forest surveys conducted between 1991 and 1996, suggesting that it is either extremely rare or possibly extinct.
