The tree is harvested from the wild for local use of its wood. Cynometra falcata is endemic to the dry forest of Fiji. It was previously thought to be threatened, but several new discoveries especially on islands in the Lau group, mean that the species has a large extent of occurrence in over 20 subpopulations, with a population size much greater then 1,000.
