Botanical Description

Manihot caerulescens is a shrub or low-growing small tree with a short bole and dense, leafy crown. It grows from 1.8 - 4.8 metres tall[ 499 Title Bulletin of Miscellaneous Information Publication Author Website http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org Publisher HMSO; London. The plant yields a latex from which a good quality rubber can be made. Prior to the advent of synthetic rubbers, and the dominance of Hevea brasiliensis as a rubber crop, this species was considered to have potential as a commercial crop. It is still sometimes harvested from the wild for its latex.
