Botanical Description

Cyrtostachys excelsa is a robust, evergreen palm growing up to 25 metres tall. The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a source of materials. Cyrtostachys excelsa has a restricted range, occurring only on a limestone hill in western Papua. In addition, the forest in that area has been heavily disturbed by logging activities.
