Botanical Description

Gnetum gnemonoides is an evergreen, climbing plant with woody, twining stems. The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and source of fibre. This species can be found in a range of ecoregions with habitats under varying degrees of threat. Even if the habitat loss is severe in some regions the species is probably not uncommon in much of its range and is not considered to be in danger of becoming extinct in the near future.
