Botanical Description

Rubus pedatus is an unarmed, perennial plant producing a cluster of more or less woody, creeping stems from a woody rootstock. The stems form new roots at the leaf nodes, developing a mat of growth with short, erect flowering stems around 10cm tall[ 270 Title Flora of N. The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food. The species is widespread and while it is possibly declining in parts of its range, it is not thought that any global population decline is likely to meet (or be close to meeting) the threshold for Vulnerable. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2013)[ 338 Title IUCN Red List of Threatened Species Publication Author Website http://www.iucnredlist.org/ Publisher Year 0 ISBN Description A list of plants under threat and facing possible extinction, usually with brief details of the threats and information on habitat. ].
