Botanical Description

Spatholobus gyrocarpus is a vigorous climbing shrub with stems that can be 45 metres long and 10 - 15cm in diameter The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine and source of materials. The lowland forest habitat of this species is threatened by clearance for agriculture and plantations, forestry and urban development. However, the plant has been recorded from secondary forest and along roadside and may, therefore, tolerate some disturbance.
