Botanical Description

Allium multiflorum is a herbaceous perennial plant growing from an ovoid to globose bulb around 20 - 35mm in diameter; it produces 4 - 10 leaves and a flowering stem around 60 - 105cm tall. The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food. Allium multiflorum is not well known from a taxonomic and biogeographic point of view. Nevertheless, the species is both frequent and locally abundant, at least in the central part of northern Algeria, growing in both natural and synanthropic habitats.
