Cultivation Details
HabitDeciduous Tree
GrowthSlow
Prefers a sunny position[1]. Succeeds in poor soils[1]. A slow-growing tree, barely reaching a height of 1.5 metres after 2 years from seed[1].
Propagation
Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a semi-shaded position in individual containers. A germination rate of less than 20% can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 25 - 50 days[1]. The seedlings resent root disturbance and so should be grown on in their pots until ready to plant out, which could be almost a year[1]. Stunning photographs of each species, brief details on the plant, its uses and how to grow it from seed. A superb work, with the minor irritation that the translation from Portuguese is not of the best.
