Cultivation Details
Requires a sunny position[1]. The cultivation of this species is difficult, possibly because of a lack of the correct soil mycorrhizae[1].
Propagation
Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in a nursery seedbed. A low germination rate can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 70 - 90 days[1]. Seedlings do not usually grow away very well, possibly because of a lack of the correct soil mycorrhizae[1]. It would probably be beneficial to obtain some soil from around healthy plants in the wild in order to try and introduce the mycorrhizae[PFAF]. Stunning photographs of each species, brief details on the plant, its uses and how to grow it from seed. A superb work, with the minor irritation that the translation from Portuguese is not of the best.
