A plant of warm, tropical climates, where it can be found at elevations up to 1,500 metres[1, 2]. It is able to survive some frost[3]. Succeeds in full sun and in dappled shade[2]. Established plants are drought tolerant[2]. The fruit is produced on new growth[1].
Propagation
Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a sunny position in a nursery seedbed. The germination rate is normally quite low, with the seed sprouting within 28 - 35 days[2].
