Cultivation Details

HabitEvergreen Tree
GrowthSlow

Succeeds in full sun to moderate shade[1]. Prefers a deep, fertile soil but can succeed in both dry and moist conditions[1]. A slow-growing plant, even when small[1]. The branches and trunk are attacked by insect borers, which reduce the tree's useful life[1].

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in a nursery seedbed or in individual containers. A low germination rate can usually be expected, with the seed sprouting within 50 - 60 days[1]. Stunning photographs of each species, brief details on the plant, its uses and how to grow it from seed. A superb work, with the minor irritation that the translation from Portuguese is not of the best.
