Safety & Hazards
Fresh sawdust may cause sneezing[1].
Cultivation Details
The plant is able to tolerate a small amount of frost only[2]. A slow-growing, but long-lived tree[1]. Growth rate of seedlings is fast and saplings of a metre or more can be obtained within three to four years of sowing the seed[2]. The root system is said to be safe for planting near swimming pools, buildings and paving stones[2].
Propagation
Seed - it should be extracted from the fleshy fruit and sown immediately for best results. The seeds have a high viability and germination begins within two weeks of sowing. The seedlings can be pricked out at the two-leaf stage into individual containers[2]. Stored seed germinates better if scarified prior to sowing[1].
