Lithocarpus henryi is not a very cold-hardy tree, tolerating short periods with temperatures down to around -8°c when dormant[1]. It grows best in moist temperate regions with warm to hot summers and mild winters[2]. Lithocarpus species generally like a warm, sheltered position but with some shade, a high tree canopy suiting them well. The ground needs to be moist but well drained[2]. The seed takes 12 months to ripen[3].
