Cultivation Details

HabitSemi-deciduous Tree
Growth—

Requires a sunny position[1]. Usually found on well-drained soils in the wild[1]. Established plants are drought tolerant[1]. Newly planted young trees generally grow away quite slowly, rarely exceeding 2 metres in height after two years[1].

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe, when it will not require pre-treatment[1]. Seed should be sown in a semi-shaded position - sow it in individual containers because the seedlings cannot be transplanted very easily. Germination rates are usually low, with the seed sprouting in 15 - 30 days[1]. The seedlings grow away slowly and are usually ready to plant out when 10 - 11 months old[1].
