Growth—
Young plants require some shade, though they become more tolerant of light as they get older[1]. Young trees have a moderate rate of growth, perhaps reaching a height of 2.5 metres within 2 years from seed[1].
Propagation
Seed - it has a very short viability and so is best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in individual containers. A germination rate in excess of 60% can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 20 - 40 days[1]. The seedlings grow away slowly, but they should be ready to plant out 7 - 9 months later[1].
