Cultivation Details
Requires a sunny position[1]. Prefers a sandy, well-drained soil[1]. Established plants are drought tolerant[1]. Young plants have a fast rate of growth[1]. The plant sprouts from the base after being burnt or cut down, producing a multi-trunked tree[1]. Young branches are hollow and form a nesting place for ants[1].
Propagation
Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a sunny position in a nursery seedbed. A germination rate in excess of 50% can be expected, with the seed sprouting within a few days[1]. When the seedlings are 5 - 6cm tall, pot them up into individual containers and they should be ready to plant out 4 - 5 months later[1].
