Cultivation Details
Succeeds in full sun and in dappled shade[1]. Established plants are drought tolerant[1]. Newly planted young trees grow away moderately well and can be 1.5 metres or more tall within 2 years[1].
Propagation
Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe. The miniscule seeds should be surface sown in a finely-prepared seedbed in a sunny position. Gently press the seeds into the soil, being careful not to cover them. The germination rate is usually low, with the seeds germinating in 40 - 50 days[1]. Prick out the seedlings into individual containers when they are about 4 - 5cm tall and they should be ready to plant out about 5- 6 months later[1]. Stunning photographs of each species, brief details on the plant, its uses and how to grow it from seed. A superb work, with the minor irritation that the translation from Portuguese is not of the best.
