Cultivation Details
Grows best in a sunny position[1]. Established plants are drought tolerant[1]. A fast-growing plant, able to reach a height of 4 - 5 metres within 2 years from seed[1]. This species has a symbiotic relationship with certain soil bacteria, these bacteria form nodules on the roots and fix atmospheric nitrogen. Some of this nitrogen is utilized by the growing plant but some can also be used by other plants growing nearby[].
Propagation
Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in individual containers. A germination rate of virtually 100% can be expected for fresh seed, with the seed sprouting within 15 - 25 days[1]. Seedlings grow away quickly, and they should be ready to plant out less than 6 months later.
