Succeeds in full sun and in partial shade[1]. Succeeds in a range of soil types, so long as they are well drained[1]. Established plants are drought resistant[1]. A fast-growing plant[1]. Plants can flower profusely all year round[1]. There are conflicting reports on whether or not this species has a symbiotic relationship with certain soil bacteria, so it is unclear as to whether it fixes atmospheric nitrogen[2].
