HabitEvergreen Shrub
Growth—

Prefers a position in full sun or partial shade and a fertile, moist but well-drained soil[1] The plant is commonly grown as an ornamental in gardens and has frequently escaped, becoming naturalized and persistent in open woodland habitats, along watercourses, roadsides and in disturbed areas[2]. The seed is spread short distances when capsules rupture, and also by water. The plant is also spread by humans as ornamental plantings and in discarded garden refuse where stems can easily form roots and become established[2].
