Ajuga macrosperma is found from southern China to the Himalayas and Indo China, growing in mainly tropical areas, but at elevations up to 2,600 metres. It should be able to be grown outdoors, at least in the mildest regions of the temperate zone. Plants in this genus usually prefer a humus-rich, moisture retentive soil and a sunny position[1].
