Cultivation

We have very little information on this species and do not know if it will be hardy in Britain. However, judging from its native range, it is likely that some forms, especially from the southern and eastern parts of its range, could succeed outdoors at least in the milder parts of the country. 193069

It does not grow well in lowland areas of the tropics, but is cultivated at elevations above 600 metres and does best at 1,000 - 1,700 metres. It grows best in areas where annual daytime temperatures are within the range 19 - 28°c, but can tolerate 10 - 36°c.
