Stranvaesia bodinieri is a plant of warm temperate regions of China and Vietnam. It is not very cold-hardy, tolerating temperatures down to around -5°c for short periods. It succeeds outdoors at Kew in London (hardyness zone 7) where it is damaged only in severe winters.
