Cultivation
A plant of the humid, lowland tropical forests, it is found in areas where the mean annual rainfall is in excess of 1,500mm, though more commonly where it exceeds 2,500mm. Often found on very acid soils in the wild, but it has also been recorded on sandy, loamy as well as lateritic soils. Plants ususally regenerate well in the shade of the forest canopy.
