Cultivation

Plants succeed in tropical and subtropical areas, usually al low elevations but sometimes at up to 1,200 metres above sea level. It grows best in areas where annual daytime temperatures are within the range 30 - 42°c, but can tolerate 10 - 47°c. When dormant, the plant can survive temperatures down to about -4°c, but young growth can be severely damaged at -1°c.
