Kroenleinia grusonii is native to semi-arid regions in northern Mexico and requires hot summers and a dry climate if it is to thrive. It can withstand substantial short-lived frosts in its native environment, being known to tolerate occasional temperatures falling as low as -10°c. In cultivation, Cactus plants generally will not succeed in moist climates.
