Cultivation

Burchardia umbellata is found from the temperate regions of tasmania to the subtropics of southern Queensland. It can be grown outdoors in the milder regions of the temperate zone and is known to tolerate occasional temperatures down to at least -7°c in well-drained soils so long as the winter is not cold and wet. The plant can, be grown outdoors in the summer and then be lifted in the autumn and stored in a cool but frost-free place over winter before replanting in early spring.
